Sino-German Industrial Park to Step up IP Protection

A Sino-German industrial park in northwestern China's city of Shenyang has pledged to step up intellectual property (IP) protection in canvassing Germany companies.

The China-Germany Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Park works with companies such as Siemens and automaker BMW. It won approval from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) at the end of last year.

"I understand that German companies prioritize IP protection when coming to China, so we will step up IP protection and law enforcement," said Li Baojun, deputy director of the park management committee.

A special IP bureau along with arbitration and mediation committees will be set up to support the companies, he said. "The park will follow some of the most stringent IP protection measures to dispel the concerns of German firms," Li said.

The 48-sq-km park has 37 companies. About 100 other companies and joint ventures have registered their interest, Li said. The companies are mainly in automobile manufacturing, electronics, robotics and intelligent manufacturing.
